What I am working on

What I am working on

Hi guys,
just to give you a quick update about what Im working on now and the progress Im making.

First of all I want to say that there is less upadtes now because Im preparing for an exam which is next week on Friday, though it is one of those exams where there isnt much to memorize and so I have no clue what they are going to ask and would rather have it tomorrow than having to wait another 5 days….

And because studying nonstop would drive me crazy, I of course work intensively on MT. Im working on v10, which as I said, will be the biggest update that MT has seen so far, and one other thing – for you it will probably be one of the easiest updates (so dont worry, big update means everything working differently in the backend, but for you it will be very easy, just replacing files).

Just to illustrate my point, I for example recently worked on the Trends pages:

v9 Avocado:
– 8 files, 1147 lines each = total of 8983 lines of code

v10 ? :)
– 1 file, 740 lines
– same functionality
– implemented error handling
– several bug fixes
– comments in the file

:)
But it is still long way to go to update most of the core template files, some of which are still mostly using code from my personal site, which I used to learn PHP and I knew this code is awful, no comments, no error handling, many bugs, not optimized… but that was why I was avoiding chanigng it because I knew it has to be done again from scratch and I decided I can no longer leave it like this so v10 will fix all this :)

And there will of course also be many new features, in terms of the PWS pages, but also blocks etc. Not just fixes of course.

  1. Those news about v10 are what we call “mouthwatering” 🙂
Now the days until the v10 update will look much longer than the remaining days to your exam are looking to you!
For a guy with your fantastic skills in programming, any exam should always be a minor obstacle, but a good luck wish, always helps 🙂
    Good luck.
