For those of you who have subscribed for the Meteotemplate news there is now a change in the way I will publish things and send these messages.
Here is a copy of the first Meteotemplate newsletter. If you are interested in getting these, simply send me an email or subscribe to this blog (you will not receive email about every single post, but rather a weekly newsletter).
Hi guys,
as you might have noticed, the name of this email is Meteotemplate Newsletter.
I decided to change the way I informed you about new things. Instead of getting an email every time I release something, you will now receive one weekly newsletter, most likely every Monday. In this newsletter you will find information about what was new the previous week, but also information about future plans and other information related to the template.
Why this change? The problem is that I obviously do not want to spam you with emails too often, so I always released more new features in bulk. This however is not easy for me and it would make things a lot easier if I could do this one by one. Meanwhile, sometimes I needed to just inform you about something and that meant I also wanted to wait until there is more stuff so that you are not getting these emails too often.
So, from now on, I will be releasing things separately, always just one block or plugin at a time, but probably more often. Every time I do so, I will post about it immediately on the blog and also on the forums. Therefore you can always check there before actually getting this newsletter. Then, every week you will get one of these updates, where there will be a list of all the things since last newsletter as well as some other additional info. The only exception to this will be a situation where something stops working and an immediate bug fix is required, in such case you would get an email immediately.
Advantages of this solution:
1. easier for me – it is easier when I just have to upload and check the download file, write the documentation etc. for one thing at a time
2. more convenient for you – you will not receive too many emails
3. less bugs – this is also important, right now, when I send out this email, many people download the new stuff at once. If there is a bug that I missed, it is a problem. However, now, it is more likely that some people will notice even before I send out this email (in the blog, on the forum), so if there is a problem, I will have time to fix it before too many people download the problematic version
4. I can add extra info in the email not just information about new features
